Putrid Blightkings - Build - Part 3

Bild
So this is going to be the final post in the Putrid Blightking series. Not to say that I'm done with nurgles in general, but these minis were finished one and a half years ago and I don't see myself picking up this project again. Even though this was supposed to be a bigger project, I'm not at all sad or ashamed to cut it short. I'm extremely proud of these two guys, I learned a ton painting them and they always occupy a special place on my miniature shelf. The paints used on these guys were based on a Master Class by Darren Latham on youtube. I of course didn't have all the paints that he had, so I tried my best to mix up my vallejo game colors to match what he was doing whenever I had to.

Nurgle - Seashore Bases

I just finished painting up the bases for my first two Putrid Blightkings. Since I'm going to use the same recipe every time I do one of these, I decided to make a separate for them just so that I have the full list of paints in one place. Note that these will still have water effects applied to them and I will make a dedicated post just for that as well. If you're interested in how I built these bases, you can find a step by step guide here. Primer Citadel  Chaos Black - I usually use Mechanicus Standard Grey as a primer, but wanted to try something new this time around. although I think a grey primer is nicer to paint over, I did notice that the chaos black gave a smoother result for me. So I will most likely use this in the future Rocks Citadel   Eshin Grey,  Vallejo Game  Black 9:1 – Basecoat Citadel  Mechanicus Standard Grey – Dry brush Citadel  Administratum Grey - Dry brush Citadel  Nuln Oil/Athonian Camoshade – Shade – Start w

Putrid Blightkings - Build - Part 2

So here's my second Blightking, or actually, it's my first. You see the steering wheel on my other model was initially planned to be on this pretty fella. But during the building it quickly became clear that the wheel wouldn't fit on his back due to his massive shoulder pads sticking out too far. But hey, that's okay. I had other great plans for this mini. Since I'm doing a pirate theme for my Nurgles I wanted to try out making a peg leg. Up until now, all my modifications have been additive. I have never taken away a part to replace with something else. And I gotta tell ya, cutting away the leg was quite scary. It just felt wrong snapping of a part of the miniature. But after a bunch of green-stuff work and sanding I think I manage to provide him with a fairly decent prosthetic leg.

After my Lord of Plagues build, I wanted to up my green stuff game a bit. As I'm working with a pirate theme for my nurgles, I figured that a steering wheel from a ship would be a nice thing to stick on the back on one of my Putrid Blightkings. This was how ever easier said then done and turned out to be a long process of sanding and reapplying greenstuff. I am pretty happy with the result though and once I start to slapp some colors on this, I think it can turn out pretty okay.

Pirate Nurgle - Lord of Plagues

So I'm finally done with my Lord of Plagues. Feels kind of weird to be honest.. this guy have been keeping me company on my desk for quite some time and now that it's over it feels kind of empty. Unfortunately I did not save a full list of paints for this project. As this was the only miniature I was working on, I didn't think to much of what paints i was using. I just grabbed what I felt I needed at the time and slapped it on the model. However I am planning to paint more Nurgle, this was such a fun theme to work with and I think I can push it way further. So I'm going to try my very best to keep a paint list for my next model. If you want to know more about the theme I picked for this guy and what modifications I did to him, check out my build post here.

Lord of Plagues - Build

The Lord of Plagues miniature have been on my to-do list for quite a while now. As this is my first single model that I've worked on, I wanted to do something special. So I decided to come up with some bullet points to help me theme this guy. This fellow was once part of a pirate crew. However a disease was spread on the ship and would leave it's crew in a very.. peculiar state. This changed the crew to say the least but it was still fully functional and would go on with it's usual business. We meet our survivor on the seashore, perhaps about to raid another village. So my plan is basically to make a sea-themed miniature where I can explore with water effects and modifications to the model. To create some extra dept to the base I cut off the top part and glued it to the bottom, creating sort of a inverted base. This was a bigger task then I first anticipated as the base was very hard to cut through and it required quite a lot of sanding and filing to ge

Stormcasts Eternals - Stormsire's Cursebreakers - Green & White

So I finally got around to finnish up my Stormcasts Eternals warband- Stormsire's Cursebreakers. This is the second wardband that comes with the Warhammer Underworld – Nightvault box. Im going to be perfectly honest with you guys, stepping into this I didnt really care much for stormcasts at all. Even though the story about how sigmar created these worriors have some interesting elements, essentially their still just dudes in golden armor. So in order to not get bored at them before I even began I knew I had to at least change up the color scheme a bit. My first instinct was to swap out the gold for steel, but although I really like to bring out details with metal colors, painting with them is kinda messy. So instead I ended up white, green and red as my primary colors and metal for weaponds and details on the armor. In the end Im actually very happy with the result. I do think that I could have pushed the highlights a lot more. The green for example loo
